Itchy Irritable Scalp technically known as 'Pruritus', is a common condition and in most cases very treatable or at least controllable. It can affect men, women and even children (usually headlice or eczema).
It could be caused by any one of a number of different conditions from simple:
Bad & incorrect hair care, Dandruff, Eczema, Headlice, Poor hygiene, to more chronic conditions, such as:
Psoriasis, Seborrhoeic Dermatitis and Pityriasis Aminantacea, (often seen more in women and often mistaken for psoriasis. This is where the scalp is covered in scales that seem to stick to the hair and flatten the hair and when the scalp is scratched or picked at, scale is removed along with clumps of hair with flakes attached to it, resulting in thinning/patchy hair loss).
‘The natural, gentle formula of Hairology’s shampoos and conditioners has calmed my irritated scalp and given my hair a softer, fuller texture. I have no hesitation in recommending their products.’ Jean from Sussex.

Causative factors can be put down to anything from genetics, dietary, illness, medication, stress, trauma, hormonal to bad hair care.
Most of these conditions are completely non-infectious and non-contagious, i.e.you cannot catch it from someone else, (apart from headlice).
In most cases, itchy irritable scalp can be easily treated and kept under control with specialized shampoos, and in more severe chronic cases treatment creams/lotions may be required.
What can we do for you?
It is not a condition to be taken lightly as constant scratching at your scalp can be quite embarrassing apart from quite uncomfortable if the scalp gets sore and inflammed. If you are shedding any scales small or large, the embarrassment of constantly brushing these off your clothing can make you feel quite self-conscious, it just doesn't make you feel good about yourself and in turn can affect your self-esteem and confidence and therefore have quite a negative affect on your quality of life.
You are not alone and that is the most important thing to remember, this is a more common condition than you may think.
However, we understand your concerns and would like to reassure you that in most cases of itchy irritable scalp that we have treated, we have had wonderful results!
Emphasis is on treat it as soon as possible and regularly, 'better late than never'.
