Hair Loss & Thinning Hair is a very common problem affecting both men and women. It can vary from temporary hair loss & thinning (technically known as 'Telogen Effluvium') to permanent hair loss & thinning, (technically known as 'Androgenic Alopecia').
Causative factors can be put down to anything from hereditary, dietary, illness, medication, stress, trauma to hormonal.
Telogen Effluvium (a very treatable condition, usually with great results), is an interruption to your hair growing cycles. It is usually the bodies reaction to a stress placed on the bodies system (i.e. a trigger such as stress, illness, health etc), which results in the excess shedding of hair.
'With regular treatments hair re-growth quickly followed. I now feel more confident, & thanks to Hairology, can face the world again.' Jean from Bucks.
What can be done?
In most cases the hair loss is general from all over the scalp and once the body rebalances itself, the hair loss usually self-repairs. In some cases this can take time or often a helping hand to improve the condition is needed.
However, in some instances this doesn't always take place and the shedding of hairs continues, and in more severe cases the condition becomes more 'Diffuse' (widely spread) and a general thinning becomes more noticeable.
The immediate response is one of despair and panic, but, please don't!
What can we do for you?
In most cases of Telogen Effluvium (a very treatable condition, usually with great results), with the correct treatment, the excessive hair loss can be brought under control and greatly reduced if not stopped altogether and regrowth of lost hairs rejuvenated. Very often, the body does usually self-repair and the hair loss comes under control by itself. If this is not the case, then, you would benefit greatly from corrective treatment.
Androgenic Alopecia is generally a genetic predisposition (as seen as the main balding/thinning pattern in men, an inherited condition) or the result of an hormonal imbalance, (usually seen in women post menopausal although it can still affect younger women too).
All treatments available are aimed at slowing down and arresting the thinning process, and in some cases reversing the thinning process, but more importantly, rejuvenating any weak hair follicles, by creating cell regeneration within the follicles, so you ultimately create longevity to the follicle. Thus, in most cases, resulting in a better head of hair, that not only looks and feels healthier, but, can also enhance your self-confidence, self-image and therefore, your quality of life.
There are no cures for this type of hair loss, but, beneficial treatments are definitely available. Remember, no two heads are the same, so each case must be looked at on an individual basis. Ideally, the earlier you start to treat and look after your hair, the more chance you have of keeping it. But, always remember, it is never too late to start, and it is always better late, than not at all.
You are not alone and that is the most important thing to remember, this is a more common condition than you may think.
